Course description...The race starts on the Carrigrohane Straight to the east of the County Hall. As you can see...dead flat and dead straight.
The first mile is flat and fast. At 1.3 miles, you turn off left onto a small road...
This short section known as Inchigaggin Lane is the quietest part of the course...
At 1.7 miles, you turn left at the T-junction and onto the Model Farm Road....
This next section has the two hills of the course. Just after you leave the T-junction above, you have a short climb up past the Tennis Village at 1.8 miles. Then it levels off for a while before the next climb again at 2.6 miles.
The highest part of the course is near the 2.8 mile mark. From there, it's a gradual downhill to Dennehy's Cross at 3.2 miles where you turn left...
....and then downhill again before leveling off as you approach Victoria Cross at 3.5 miles where you turn left...
From there, it's a flat 800m or so to the finish line...
Overall.....Flat start...two hills but they're short....very fast for the last 1.2 miles. Its location makes it central to a lot of people, its easy to access and it should produce some fast 4 mile times.
